As the Technology Support Specialist, I was in charge of ensuring the campus technology was functioning and up to date. This included keeping the computer labs, classroom technology, and faculty/staff workstations up to date (hardware and software maintenance) and inventoried. Lastly, I provided training to faculty, staff, and students on best practices of technology usage as well as cyber security awareness. Additional training and workshops were provided on an as needed basis.
Below is a summary of the responsibilities my role included:
- Provide troubleshooting, support, and installation of new workstations, monitors, printers, scanners, peripherals, site-based networks, and databases.
- Utilize server based and standalone antivirus, anti-spyware, anti-malware software.
- Recommend purchases for new technology in line with campus technology needs.
- Keep license inventory of all hardware and software in accordance with organization policy.
- Assist faculty and staff with website design and development inquiries.
- Manage websites and supported departmental website updates.
- Provide assistive technology support for students with disabilities.
- Coordinate maintenance for workstations and technical equipment with departments.
- Complete quarterly technology inventory in preparation of yearly review.
